Description
ROSEGREAT (Rosuvastatin) tablets is primarily used to lower high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood, and to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular problems. It is part of a class of drugs called statins and is used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise.
Primary Medical Uses
ROSEGREAT (Rosuvastatin) is prescribed for several conditions related to abnormal lipid levels and cardiovascular risk:
-
- High Cholesterol (Hyperlipidemia): The main use is to decrease “bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) and triglycerides, while increasing “good” cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL). This helps prevent the buildup of fatty deposits (plaque) in the arteries (atherosclerosis).
- Cardiovascular Disease Prevention: For individuals at high risk for heart disease, rosuvastatin can help prevent a heart attack, stroke, or the need for heart surgery.
- Familial Hypercholesterolemia:
Rosuvastatin is used to treat inherited conditions (heterozygous and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia) that cause very high levels of cholesterol in both adults and some children (typically ages 7 or 8 and older, depending on the specific condition).
Important Considerations
- Prescription Only: Rosuvastatin is available only with a doctor’s prescription, who determines the appropriate dosage and monitors progress through regular blood tests (cholesterol and liver function checks).
- Lifestyle Changes: Medication is only one part of the treatment plan. It is crucial to maintain a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet and a regular exercise routine.
- Continuous Treatment: Patients must continue taking rosuvastatin even if they feel well, as high cholesterol often has no symptoms. Stopping the medication suddenly can cause cholesterol levels to rise again.
ROSEGREAT F10 is prescribed for Mixed Dyslipidemia when both LDL ( bad cholesterol) and TG ( Triglycerides ) are elevated above normal levels. Fenofibrate 160mg in ROSEGREAT F10 is particularly meant for TG ( Triglycerides) reduction.
