Description

TELSAT CN (Telmisartan 40mg with Clinidipine 10mg) tablet is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.

Primary Medical Uses
  • High Blood Pressure (Hypertension): Telmisartan is widely prescribed to manage high blood pressure, either alone or in combination with other medications. This helps prevent long-term damage to the heart, brain, and kidneys that can result from persistently high blood pressure.
  • Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: It is used in patients aged 55 and older who are at high risk of developing a heart attack or stroke due to existing conditions like diabetes, a history of peripheral arterial disease, stroke, or coronary heart disease.
  • Heart Failure: In some cases, telmisartan may be used to treat heart failure (a condition where the heart cannot pump enough blood to the body), especially for patients who cannot tolerate ACE inhibitors.
  • Diabetic Nephropathy: It may also be prescribed to help preserve kidney function in patients who have diabetes and high blood pressure, and who show signs of kidney disease (protein in the urine).
Important Considerations
  • Prescription Only: Telmisartan is available only with a doctor’s prescription and should be taken exactly as directed.
  • Do Not Stop Abruptly: Do not stop taking the medication without consulting a healthcare provider, even if you feel well, as this can cause blood pressure to rise and increase health risks.
  • Pregnancy Warning: Telmisartan is not recommended during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, as it can be harmful to the fetus.
  • Monitoring: Your doctor may monitor your kidney function, blood pressure, and potassium levels in your blood at regular intervals while you are taking this medicine.
