Description

GREATDOL SP is a combination of aceclofenac, paracetamol, and serratiopeptidase is a prescription medication used for the relief of pain, inflammation, and swelling in various conditions.
Key Uses
This combination is prescribed for a wide range of painful and inflammatory conditions, including:
  • Musculoskeletal disorders: Pain and stiffness in joints and muscles caused by conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and general back or neck pain.
  • Injury and trauma: Pain and swelling associated with bone or soft tissue injuries, sprains, and fractures.
  • Post-surgical recovery: Management of pain, inflammation, and edema (swelling) after surgical procedures, including dental surgeries like tooth extractions and implant placement.
  • Dental pain and infections: Relief from toothaches, gum swelling, and pain following dental work.
  • Other pain and inflammation: Headaches, mild migraines, and painful menstruation.
How It Works
The medication combines three active ingredients, each with a specific mechanism of action to provide comprehensive relief:
  • Aceclofenac: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that blocks the production of prostaglandins, chemicals in the body responsible for pain, inflammation, and swelling.
  • Paracetamol (Acetaminophen): An analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer) that works primarily in the brain to increase the pain threshold and lower body temperature.
  • Serratiopeptidase: A proteolytic enzyme that helps break down abnormal proteins (like fibrin) at the site of inflammation, which reduces swelling, thins fluids, improves blood circulation, and promotes faster healing.
Important Considerations
  • Prescription Only: This medication is typically a Schedule H drug in some regions and requires a doctor’s prescription for safe use.
  • Administration: It should generally be taken with food to reduce the risk of stomach upset or irritation.
  • Potential Side Effects: Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, and dizziness.
  • Precautions: It may not be suitable for patients with a history of stomach ulcers, severe liver or kidney disease, or heart conditions. Alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medication as it increases the risk of liver damage.
