Description
PANGREAT D: A combination tablet of Pantoprazole and Domperidon e is primarily used to treat gastrointestinal disorders where excessive stomach acid is coupled with nausea or slow digestion.
Primary Uses
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Relieves heartburn, acid reflux, and chest discomfort by preventing stomach acid from flowing back into the oesophagus.
- Peptic Ulcers: Helps in the healing and prevention of ulcers in the stomach and the upper part of the intestine (duodenum).
- Indigestion (Dyspepsia): Treats symptoms like bloating, feeling of fullness, and upper abdominal pain.
- Nausea and Vomiting: Domperidone specifically helps control the urge to vomit and feeling of sickness often associated with acidity.
- Gastritis: Reduces inflammation of the stomach lining.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Manages a rare condition where the stomach produces excessive amounts of acid.
How the Combination Works
- Pantoprazole (Proton Pump Inhibitor): Reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
- Domperidone (Prokinetic): Increases the movement of the stomach and intestines, allowing food to pass more easily and preventing it from backing up
Essential Usage Tips
- Timing: For best results, take the tablet on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning at least 30–60 minutes before breakfast.
- Administration: Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it, as this can interfere with its special coating designed for slow release.
- Long-term Care: If prescribed for long-term use (more than a year), your doctor may recommend calcium, magnesium, or Vitamin B12 supplements, as prolonged use can sometimes weaken bones or lead to mineral deficiencies.
- Consultation: Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions. Inform them if you have liver or kidney disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, before starting this medication.
